August 14 - Lee Adams is born in Mansfield, Ohio

Adams meets Charles Strouse


1950

Graduated from Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and works as a newspaper reporter, magazine writer and editor, radio writer and interviewer. During his work as a reporter, Adams began writing lyrics for songs in productions held at summer camps and various night club revues.

April 14 - Bye Bye Birdie opens at the Martin Beck Theatre on Broadway and runs for 607 performances
