Eddie Fisher, born on August 10, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was one of the most popular male vocalists of the early 1950’s.

At the age of 18, he got his start singing with the Buddy Morrow Band and soon after meeting Eddie Cantor in 1949, began singing on Cantor’s radio show. The show would lead to huge nationwide exposure and a recording contract with RCA.

From 1950 through 1967 Fisher, accompanied by Hugo Winterhalter’s Orchestra, gave RCA over 60 chart hits including two consecutive million-sellers, 1952's "Any Time" and "Tell Me Why," and the #1 hits ‘Wish You Were Here’ (1952), ‘I’m Walking Behind You’ (1953), ‘Oh! My Pa-Pa’ (1953) and ‘I Need You’ (1954).

Fisher also gained his own top-rated television programs, Coke Time and The Chesterfield Supper Club. He starred in his first movie, Bundle of Joy, in 1956 - co-billed with his first wife, Debbie Reynolds. His second film, 1960's Butterfield 8, teamed him with Elizabeth Taylor, whom he married soon after.
